

The above two photographs illustrate the thinned wood head which is fitted to the Rudall Carte Flute Number 7839. The embouchure shape is the typical oval shape of that era.
It has a silver lining.
The fitting to the body is via a silver lined tenon joint on a cork lined body joint. The modern wood flutes tend to have tenon joints similar to metal flutes and a fine photograph of this may be seen on Robert Bigio's Web site
