

The above photographs show the Flute Maker hand forging a piece of flute
keywork. - a G# key.
He works entirely by eye and produces the key amost entirely by the
above crude looking method. The hammer action is extremely skillfully applied
so that the stresses in the metal are properly distributed and the finished
key has high strength and no weaknesses or splits in the corners.
