The above photographs show an old Rudall Carte Cleaning rod. It is made in wood and unscrews to reveal a small screw driver. Flute repairers must shudder at the thought of this one screw driver being used on all the screws on the flute.
This cleaning rod belonged to my first teacher, the late Bill Morris, Piccolo Player in the Halle Orchestra.
